The Stat 100 course includes five projects that are due during the term. Each project requires that you print out a few pages. If you choose to use a university printer you will need a Terrapin Express card. Naturally, you will not need one to print on your own printer. You do not need to print in color and you may print on both sides of the page.
You have the choice of working these projects using either the statistical software, MINITAB, or in a spread sheet.
MINITAB is available in the OWL Lab (MTH 0203) and may be available in other WAM labs. MINITAB is also available for purchase from the MINITAB Corporation. (Note that the instructions are optimized to MINITAB 15.) MINITAB is not available for the MAC.
We have added the option of working these projects in a spreadsheet this term. While there may be some start-up issues, spreadsheet programs are generally more available.
If you do not have Microsoft Excel on your computer, you can use a computer in the OWL lab (MTH 0203) or one of the other WAM labs. Alternately you can use Calc in Open Office, which can be downloaded from www.openoffice.org/ for free. You should also be able to use a MAC.
We have provided links to instructions in the table below to support either choice. If your browser is setup to open PDF files in a browser window, use ctlr-click to open the instructions in a new window. You can also print the instructions if you prefer.
